AN ATLAS OF BECOMING

A life.
A thousand
possible worlds.

A field journal about thinking with machines and taking care of a whole life. Body, home, belonging, dignity, curiosity, beauty, and purpose. First principles beneath it all.

MORPHOGENESIS / STUDY 001ONE LIFE · MANY NEEDS

Body. Safety. Belonging. Agency. Learning. Beauty. Meaning. Care.

First principles

Observe → Question → Test → Revise

A small experiment in perspective.

THE HUMAN FRAME

A whole life needs tending.

Open a part of the map. Each holds a question and a small way to begin.

Maslow is a starting point for this personal map. Needs can overlap, compete, and change. Learning, beauty, play, and contribution extend the map in my own terms; these eight spaces are not his original five categories.

01 Body & rest

Food, water, sleep, movement, comfort, and accessible care.

Ask: What would make today more physically manageable?

Begin: Make room for one basic need before adding another task.

02 Safety & continuity

A dependable home, financial stability, practical protection, and plans for later life.

Ask: What recurring uncertainty needs a clear next step?

Begin: Name one obligation, its evidence, and the person who can help.

03 Love & belonging

Family, friendship, intimacy, community, and caring for the animals who share our lives.

Ask: Where would a little presence matter?

Begin: Protect some time together without turning it into a productivity task.

04 Dignity & agency

Respect, choice, competence, boundaries, and support that leaves the person in charge.

Ask: Does this tool expand my choices?

Begin: Make one decision easier to understand, change, or decline.

05 Learning & curiosity

Understanding, study, discovery, and the freedom to revise a belief.

Ask: What do I know, and what am I assuming?

Begin: Follow one question to its source and write down what remains unclear.

06 Beauty & play

Art, delight, nature, humor, and experiments that need no business case.

Ask: What would make this day feel more alive?

Begin: Leave a little unmeasured time for making, noticing, or playing.

07 Growth & meaning

Creative expression, values, reflection, and a direction that feels worth pursuing.

Ask: Is the way I spend attention connected to what matters?

Begin: Choose one small act that expresses a value you want to live by.

08 Contribution & care

Teaching, service, stewardship, and helping others have more room to grow.

Ask: Who could use something I have learned?

Begin: Prepare one useful explanation that someone else could try.

A reflective map, with no score to complete. Inspired by Maslow’s 1943 paper; expanded here for this journal.

THE JOURNAL

Start where you are.

Essays, research notes, and questions that stay open.

001OPENING NOTE

LIFE × TECHNOLOGY

What an agent-native life could make possible

What should these tools make room for? An opening note on agency, everyday life, and the ambition to support research and education.

THE IDEAS / AN OPEN NOTEBOOK

Different lenses.
The same question.

What should an agent notice, value, and be allowed to do?

∴CONCEPT ATLAS

ONTOLOGIES × HARNESSES × BIOMIMICRY

Give the machine a way to think—and a reason to pause.

Gītā, SALTWATER, Stoic, aviation, and swarm ideas. Explore design hypotheses, compare a small example, and see where the analogy still needs evidence.

THE PRACTICE

Make the work visible.

Curiosity becomes useful when it leaves a record.

01 / NOTICE

Keep a field journal.

Write down the question before reaching for the next tool. Give ordinary life a place in the story.

02 / MAKE

Build something small.

A useful workflow, a short film, an essay. Define a finish line that can be reached and reviewed.

03 / CHECK

Show what happened.

Distinguish the idea from the result. Record uncertainty and let the next experiment change the plan.

A practical starting point

A workflow pilot for independent restaurants and small service businesses: one recurring handoff, written scope, and a reviewable result. Availability, scope, and fee are agreed before work.

Work with me

THE PERSON BEHIND THE NOTES

Hi, I’m Drew.

I’m exploring how to live with AI agents while staying attentive to the whole human life around them. The work moves between first principles, philosophy, creative practice, and the everyday art of taking care.

“Technology as an extension of consciousness” is a question and a lens for this project. The journal explores that idea through studies of perception, the design of agent harnesses, biomimicry, and the experience of using these tools. It does not assume that a machine is conscious.

This is a personal learning project. Financial writing will describe the learning process; it will not provide individualized investment, tax, or legal advice.

LETTERS FROM THE JOURNEY

A note worth opening.

FIELD TERMINAL

A tiny place to play. Commands: help, seed, why, mission. There may be roots beneath the surface.

Small experiments welcome.

This terminal is a local toy. It does not run system commands or send what you type.
